The Canadian operation was founded 1998 and operated under the Portfolio Management Group (PMG) name until 2008. The initial focus of the business was to provide Contingency Collections Service, Legal Services, and Subrogation Claim Management to Canadian establishments.
In 1999 a Debt Acquisition Division launched that was an immediate success and quickly established the organisation as the largest debt buyer in Canada. With this success, PMG narrowed the company focus to the Debt Acquisition industry and to an elite list of national Contingency Debt Collection partners.
In 2005, PMG expanded the operation to include a new satellite office in Montreal, Quebec.
In 2005, PMG was acquired by Aktiv Kapital and transitioned to the Aktiv Kapital Brand in 2008.
Today, Aktiv Kapital Canada Ltd. continues to dominate the Canadian Debt Acquisition market.
